Do you find yourself trembling at the thought of undergoing a root canal therapy? Millions of knees probably start to quiver by just simply hearing the term “root canal.” Often, people associate the procedure with intense, excruciating pain. But in reality, it is not the treatment itself that is painful – it is a severe toothache that shouts for a root canal therapy instead.
A root canal therapy is provided by many dental offices today, including us at Salt Run Family Dentistry. The procedure involves three steps: preparation, cleaning, and polishing. Your Salt Run Family Dentistry dentist will apply a local anesthetic to the site where the root canal therapy is necessary for the patient to feel more calm and comfortable while on the dental chair. To get the infected tooth ready to be cleaned, the dentist will first create a tiny hole that will serve as an entryway. Next, the affected stuff found in the canals such as the pulp and other infected structures will then be removed. Finally, fillings will be placed into the hollow tooth. In some cases, the dentist will use a crown to avoid further reinfection. (more…)
